The yellow sac spider is a bit smaller spider than most, the adults can be up to 5/16th of an inch long. They are yellow in color with a slight green tinge. The tips of their long legs look like they were dipped in dark brown paint, and they have two rows of four eyes that are also dark brown.

They find their way indoors while searching for warmth and food to eat in the fall months. Yellow sac spiders are of the predator type and will eat different insects and other spiders. They will bite if they are handled, but their venom is not usually strong enough to be harmful to a person. If it does cause a reaction it will consist of local short-term pain and soreness with a raised red welt.
